20MB Personal Web Storage Space
 

All OnlineNW Internet Access customers have the included option to have their own free 20 MB web storage space on our server. These webstorage spaces are not created until you make a formal request. Such a request can be made via email. This e-mail should include your username (or name you want used for your site), and password. This space is offered as a place to store files, or even have a small personal website.

If you want a web site just to share information with friends, or just to store files, having your web site named after your name (or user name) should not be an issue. In this case your URL would be http://www.sites.onlinenw.com/yourusername.

If you wish to have a more business like name but don't want to go to the trouble (and expense) of registering your domain name, then we can give you an address like the following: http://sites.onlinenw.com/yourbusinessname.

OnlineMac Tech Support will send you an e-mail with FTP info letting you know that your space is ready for use. Once this directory is created, you can upload files from your computer to be viewed on the World Wide Web! You will need to make sure you have an FTP client (such as CuteFTP or FTP Explorer), or if you are on a Mac you will want to use Fetch in order to transfer the files.

Please Note – Microsoft FrontPage Extensions CANNOT be used on any free personal website under the directory of www.sites.onlinenw.com, so please keep that in mind when constructing your website.

If you have a  domain, and want to point it to your web storage space, you will need to make those arrangements with your Registrar (or the company you registered your domain through). However keep in mind that this is a free webspace and has limitations, and is not set up to maintain a commercial web site.
